Backup system without management or operator
-
Is created using small sh and perl scripts. Extremely simple implementation.
-
Is ideal solution for self service environment.
-
May be used for work/project progress analysis, by following file modification activity.
-
Hourly and daily incremental backups.
-
Backupped files may be visible (read only) using SAMBA.
Users may access their own files and self repair possible editing mistakes,
for example lost data.
References

Semantically same kind of system was used in an office with ~30 client machines
connected to server. No other backup software was used.
More than once has fixed user mistakes, like when user using MS-Windows
has moved networked disk to trash... or when some editing error erases file content
during the working day (says hours worth of work).
